We stand ready to help you retrieve pictures, arrange visits to the museum’s three venues, arrange interviews and provide detailed information about any topic related to Art Museums of Skagen and the Skagen painters.

Editorial visits to Skagen Museum, Anchers Hus and Drachmanns Hus are exempt from admission payment. The exemption does not apply to visits that have a solely private purpose.

Art Museums of Skagen is looking for lost artworks by the artist Marie Triepke Krøyer Alfvéns

For several months art historian and museum curator Mette Bøgh has been searching in old letters, catalogs, and newspapers. She is searching for artworks by Marie Triepcke Krøyer Alfvén (1867-1940). At this time the museum is searching for six specific artworks, but preliminary examinations show that more artworks are probably out there in privately owned collections in Sweden and the rest of Europe.

Drachmanns Hus is open

Home to the poet and painter Holger Drachmann.
Drachmanns Hus still looks very much like it did when the Skagen painter and author Holger Drachmann lived there from 1902-1908. On the walls, there are about 150 drawings and paintings, mostly by Drachmann, but other artists of the era are also represented. Drachmann bought the house and named it Pax when he was planning to marry his third wife, Soffi Drachmann, (née Lasson).

The Skagens painters’ exhibition in Tokyo

2017 marks the 150th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Denmark. The anniversary is celebrated with a wide range of events in both nations. Among the major cultural events is the exhibition Skagen – an artist colony in Denmark at the National Museum of Western Art (NMWA) in Tokyo, to which the Art Museums of Skagen has lent 59 artworks from the collection. The exhibition opens 10 February and runs until 28 May, 2017.
